Hi all!
What are some things that you do that help you study for tests? How best do you learn and remember information? What advice would you have to give if someone were starting back to school after being away from it for a number of years?
I ask cause I'll be starting school in the fall and it's been six years since I've been in a classroom. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thank you all for any ideas or thoughts!

i like using real life sinarios. so for example, i like to put myself their and ask myself if it was me, what would i do?. i also like to use fictional people (like i make up ones in my head) to help me learn. it's actually a weird concept, but it really does work. you can message me anytime and i'll go through it with you.

I just graduated with a Bachelor's. I found the best methods were spaced-out repetition and discussion of what you learned, even if the other person has no idea what you're talking about. Putting concepts into voice and trying to teach someone else helps you more fully remember and realize what it is you've learned.

I agree with Miss M. the other thing that helped me was taking very thorough notes while in class, and also when I was reading whatever the required material was. I tended to remember things better when I'd write them down. That, and it meant that when the test was coming, I had my notes to look over, and didn't have to resort through my books or handouts, etc. Thank God for my Braille note-taker when I was in college!

Yeah, I need to get a braille note taker for school..for sure! :) It will def. come in handy!
I know that using a recorder can also help..that has helped me in the past.
All of your ideas are really interesting and helpful!

using lecture slides and reading the required texts and any additional stuff the prof might assign helps me.

recorders are good, just make sure it's ok from the prof or they might consider it a violation of their intelectual property

yeah, I am just starting college and I didn't study at all in high school one of those nutcases that didn't have to and got mostly good grades. are you with voc rehab? you need to get a braillenote or some sort of notetaker, a computer with jaws and kurzweil on it, along with ms-word, and erm...... a scanner and a printer. you'll need them. gps would help too, but I've just started and I found all those helpful. and buy yourself a bunch of ear pieces you'll want them. hmm....., I got studying in advanced from another topic and when you do assignments don't make it difficult for yourself I think at least it makes sense, because the easier you make it the faster it will be and things will take time.
